This astonishingly mature debut from Cloud 13 alumni the Soft Targets brings together all the elements that make a great album: Smart lyrics, layers of intricate guitar work, indefatigable pop hooks and recurring musical and lyrical themes weaved throughout.

Frequent Flyer's understated honesty and authenticity offers a welcome antidote to trendy and emotionally callow hipster-ism. When Soft Target's fearless leader Jesse Corry croons lyrics like "I know that I'm responsible for some of your cuts and scrapes / But I'll stay with you until they mend" on the track "Happy Again," you're inclined to believe it, and it's precisely this quality of emotional credibility that sets this record apart.

Co-produced by Soft Targets and Atlanta, GA, scene veteran Tim DeLaney (known for his work in the Sight Seers, Swimming Pool-Qs, and Kopernik), "Frequent Flyer" was recorded on portable recording gear in various living rooms, but you'd never know it. With string arrangements by multi-instrumentalist Nate Sadler to round out the Soft Target's carefully orchestrated pop, "Frequent Flyer" achieves a high degree of polish without sacrificing the intimacy and immediacy of the DIY aesthetic.
